Obituary - Keith Jessie Nuttall, July 1, 1930 - Apr. 27, 2012

Brigham City boxing sensation Keith Jesse Nuttall died April 27, 2012 in Orem, Utah.

Keith was born July 1, 1930 to Morris Artell Nuttall and Dorothy Florence Arbon.

His siblings are: Roma LaFaye, Vernall Artell, Gary Lee, Darrell Morris, Dorothy and Sharon.

His parents, and Faye, Vernall and Dorothy have all preceded him in death.

He began boxing at the age of twelve and won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions in 1946. He turned professional in June 1947 and was coached by triple world title holder, Henry Armstrong.

Keith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Colleen Petersen and they had eleven children: Keith, Gaylene, Cory, Kevin, Christie, Debra, Linda, David, Julie, Sherrie and Jennifer. They were sealed in the Logan Temple Dec. 14, 1963. They have 39 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed fishing in Logan Canyon, hunting and late night bowling in Ogden, Utah where he would frequently take the family after closing up the restaurant.

His boxing career was cut short by an injury so he became a cook and managed the Tropical Restaurant in Brigham City, Utah. He went on to manage Kentucky Fried Chicken stores in Long Beach, California and later to own KFCs in Arizona and California with his partner Brent Ross.

Keith and Colleen were divorced on October 22, 1979 and Keith married Susan Kathleen Clementi. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple May 21, 1988. They lived in El Centro, California until they moved to Orem, Utah in 2007. They enjoyed traveling in their RV with their little dog Pugsley to visit their large family. Keith and Sue were tenderhearted and generous with their resources.

Thank you to all who so lovingly cared for Keith in his last days on the earth. To Keith we would say: We'll miss you champ!

My dad (Ray Johnson) loved his cousin Keith. He enjoyed spending his childhood with him. My dad passed away in 2001, but I'm sure he would want to pass along his condolences.
